**CLEANING SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES**

A cleaning supervisor is responsible for overseeing the work activities of cleaners within his/her site.

**ALL CLEANING SUPERVISORS ARE EXPECTED TO**:
1. Have Basic First Aid

2. Have WHIMIS certification as well as any other certifications required by their position

3. Have completed a recent and successful Criminal Record Check

4. Perform responsibilities with professionalism

5. Effectively evaluate work-related situations and identify barriers and opportunities, relevant facts, resources required, and possible resolutions

6. Maintain work principles and ethics

7. Avoid conflict of interest

8. Maintain strict and prudent confidentiality

9. Practice and promote effective verbal and non-verbal communication

11. Sign and adhere to the organization’s Employment Agreement

12. Adhere to the organization’s mission and value statements, guiding philosophies and code of ethics

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:

- Ensure cleaning staff adherence to these standards and procedures set out by Quality Employment
- Coaching and developing employees (cleaners)
- Where required, gather and provide information on a daily, monthly and annual basis, including cleaning staff team schedules, staff hour logs etc.
- Complete cleaning staff schedule on time
- On-call duties for covering cancelled shifts/emergencies
- Scheduling and assigning specific duties/roles to cleaners and also ensuring that they are carried out expertly
- Inspection of cleaning equipment regularly so as to know when they are worn-out and also request for replacement
- Report faulty equipment to the Shelter Manager within 12 hours of breakdown
- Controlling and monitoring the usage of cleaning materials to avoid or minimize waste and/or misuse
- Follow proper procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and dispensers and ensure all cleaning staff is trained on the correct mixture of chemical
- Providing any form of required assistance to cleaners while they carry out their duties
- Act as a communication conduit between Frontline staff, management and cleaning staff
- Maintains the inventory of cleaning supplies and materials used by cleaning staff
- Provide timely request purchase of inventories, equipment and materials based on each site manager preference
- Monitor and report staff absenteeism to Director
- Actively promote Health and Safety, and report any breach directly to the Director
- Ensure that all staff wear all appropriate PPE
- Prepare any overtime shift for approval by the Director
- Work with members of other site teams as required
- Schedule, assist and plan for deep cleaning of shelter on a weekly base
- Maintains health and sanitation standards of the shelter building by utilizing checklists provided by the Director of Quality Employment
- Follows all Quality Employment service philosophies, policies, and procedures
- Maintain appropriate boundaries when working with shelter residents, Frontline staff and shelter management
- Maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and professionalism in role
- Work effectively with persons who have diverse styles, abilities, motivations, and backgrounds
- Demonstrate basic computer skills
- Adapt to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
- Arrive to work promptly and regularly
- Concentrate and perform accurately
- Understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
- Perform repetitive manual tasks that require agility and manual dexterity; and sort, stack, and arrange items in an organized manner

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**

Available to work scheduled shifts which may include: a. Day: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm b. Evening: 4:00 pm - 12:00 am while factoring in both cleaning team schedule

**QUALIFICATIONS**

1. Strong communication skills specifically in conflict resolution and nonviolent crisis intervention

2. Previous experience working in a shelter environment is preferred

3. Knowledge of harm reduction, community service agencies and the homeless population are assets

4. Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement, perform job duties with mínimal supervision and problem solve

5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, staff, community agencies and the public

6. COVID vaccine mandatory

**Job Types**: Permanent, Part-time

**Salary**: $19.00-$23.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift

- Toronto, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
