Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

As a Pipeline Simulation Technical Lead with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of engineering and information technology professionals. This position is located at the Edmonton office.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Build and maintain Computational Pipeline Monitor (CPM) systems aimed at protecting people, environment, and assets.
- Ensures compliance with applicable CPM regulations, developing CPM training material for the Control Center Operators and provide training.
- Identify and make recommendations for improvements to the CPM systems, pipeline operations, and field instrumentation to contribute to operational effectiveness.
- Share in the group’s on-call rotation.
- Ensures that leak detection systems and processes comply with Trans Mountain’s management system and regulatory requirements by leading the implementation of upgrades or enhancements.
- Develop and maintain leak detection standards to support the team's efforts with keeping relevant manuals and technical documentation current.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the CPM systems including sensitivity testing by implementing fluid withdrawal and simulated leak tests.
- Lead the implementation of required improvements or the resolution of issues.

**Qualifications and Professional Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience, preferably in the petroleum industry with increasing responsibilities and project complexity.
- Experience with people leadership
- Experience developing and maintaining computer simulations.
- Knowledge of pipeline leak detection, hydraulics, and operation.
- Experience working with real-time software.
- Experience developing and delivering technical training to non-technical personnel.
- Experience with high-level programming languages.
- Experience leading CPM system projects.
- Experience with external fiber optic leak detection technology would be considered an asset.

**Other Requirements and Information**
- Based in Edmonton
- 5% travel may be required.

In Alberta, the existing pipeline system spans the traditional territories of Treaty 6, 7 and 8, and the Métis Nation of Alberta (Zone 4).

In British Columbia, the system crosses the traditional territories of numerous First Nations that are affiliated with the Secwepemc, Dakelh (Carrier), Nlaka'pamux, Syilx/Okanagan, Interior and Coast Salish, Stó:lo, as well as the Métis.
