**JOB SUMMARY**
- You are responsible for planning, coordinating and managing a temporary, large-scale, high profile operational project: Enhancing Fleet Technical Services: Process Optimization, Performance Metrics, Team Development, and Lifecycle Management in Fleet Operations.
- Within the Fleet Maintenance & Technical Services Branch, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement across the vehicle acquisition lifecycle, optimizing fleet management operations to meet the evolving needs of the various service areas and the City. The role involves procedure and process development, stakeholder communication, monitoring and reporting, continuous improvement and innovation, process monitoring and vehicle validation, risk management and mitigation, and configuration requirements management. Additionally, it will focus on project planning, monitoring, and control, ensuring projects stay on track, meet milestones, and provide actionable insights through comprehensive reporting.
- You provide a central coordination and integration point for related project activities and manage an integrated work plan, which identifies key dependencies, integration points and communication and consultation plans. You provide strategic risk and issues management support and provide regular progress updates to senior management on risks to the project schedule, budget and/or quality of deliverables.
- You are responsible for managing the project team human and financial resources You also establish and maintain client, stakeholder and partner relationships to achieve the desired outcomes of the project.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of 4 year university degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience managing major projects of a complex nature and using Quality Management Systems methodologies, including experience in the management of human resources, external contract resources and project/operating/capital budgets, preferably in a municipal setting.
**CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES**
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.
**KNOWLEDGE**
- Knowledge of vehicle technology and mechanical systems
- Knowledge and understanding of vehicle leasing concepts and practices
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
- Project management principles, methodologies and practices
- Contract document preparation and the tendering process
- Community consultation principles and practices as required
- The City of Ottawa’s organizational, governance and administrative structures
- Legislation, regulations, policies, standards and guidelines relevant to the work
- Industry trends and developments
- Corporate policies, guidelines and practices
- The various Collective Agreements in place at the City
- Must be familiar with applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures
