**Housekeeping Porter/Maintenance Assistant**

**FTE**: 1.0 Full-Time/Term Employee (term position up to 1-year, with possibility of extension or permanent placement)

**Anticipated Shift**: Days/Evening (occasional coverage of other shifts is required)

**Daily Hours Worked**: 0900-1730 (9am-5:30pm) - 8 paid hours paid (with 30-minute unpaid lunch)

**Annual Base Hours**: 2080 hours/year; 40 hour/week; 8 hours/day)

**Salary**:$16.35-$19.42/hour

**Position Overview**

Under the direction of the Building Superintendent, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission and values of the Winnipeg Clinic the Housekeeping/Porter/Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performing various cleaning functions/porter services and other general maintenance services throughout all areas of the Clinic during the scheduled hours; Areas of assignment include, but are not limited to: entrance ways, stairwells, patient care areas, lounges, offices, labs, bathrooms, corridors, elevators and exterior property.

Uses all equipment and products in accordance with procedures, and adheres to all safety and health regulations and safe work practices.

Reports any repairs required to buildings or building systems.

Ensures proper use and knowledge of all equipment and products in accordance with procedures; and performs other related duties as assigned.

**Experience**
- Previous related cleaning/porter/maintenance experience.

**Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)**
- Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.
- On-the-job training provided.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to interact well with others.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt readily to stressful situations.
- Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature.

**Physical Requirements**
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, twist and reach continuously throughout the entire shift.
- Ability to lift a minimum of approximately 50 lbs/23 kgs.
- Ability to lift, push and pull heavy weights, climb ladders, other.
- Exposed to chemical substances, moisture, odour, noise, vibration, dust grime and interruptions.
- May be exposed to inadequate lighting, inadequate ventilation, infectious diseases, and temperature extremes.
- Usual safety procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be taken to avoid work injury.
- Has contact with patients, visitors and staff.
- May be required to work extended hours/weekends/holidays/provide coverage for Building Maintenance Support.

**Salary**: $16.35-$19.42 per hour
