We are hiring a **Full-Time**Permanent**Meter Technician 1** position working out of Edmonton, AB.

As the Meter Technician 1, you support the growth, sustainment and ongoing management of EPCOR’s electric meter population. You will employ a variety of technical skills combined with continued internal training and experience required to fulfill a multitude of core Meter Lab responsibilities. These include the evaluation, maintenance and inspection of smart metering devices deployed throughout EPCOR’s AMI Network (Advanced Metering Infrastructure). All activities will be performed while adhering to Safe Work Practices, our Quality Management System, associated processes and procedures as well as in strict accordance with Measurement Canada Standards.

What you’d be responsible for
- Evaluating, processing and recording all incoming meters (i.e. new, used, repairs, 3rd party, etc.)
- Inspecting, servicing and verifying meters in accordance with Measurement Canada standards and the Meter Operations Quality Management System
- Actively participating in both internal and external audits related to Measurement Canada Accreditation program
- Identifying, logging and assisting with defining corrective actions for non-conformances as outlined within the Meter Operations Quality Management System
- Conducting foundational troubleshooting, root cause analysis and applied resolution of AMI meter issues (ex: communication, program, metrology, functionality)
- Conducting outbound meter processing and inventory management fulfillment
- Contributing to annual compliance sample testing activities inclusive of internal record and certificate updates in advance of submissions to Measurement Canada by Senior Meter Lab personal
- Demonstrating the ability to work safely, independently and effectively in a high performance team environment where initiative, adaptability, organizational skills and a drive toward continuous improvement are behaviors instrumental to the success of Meter Lab Operations

What’s required to be successful
- Grade 12 diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
- Journeyman Electrician Certificate is required
- Completion of a 2-year electrical, instrumentation or electronics technology diploma or equivalent from a recognized technical Institute are strong assets
- Previous experience working in a Meter Shop / Lab is considered a highly valued skillset
- Power Systems Electrician Certificate is considered an asset
- Working knowledge / demonstrated proficiency using MS Office Outlook, Excel and Word is critical to meeting expectations of role
- Ability to utilize electric multi meters and or similar devices used for the diagnosis and confirmation of electrical functionality
- Must be able to use various hand tools - manual and power assist
- Familiarity with electrical connections, meters and associated standards
- Utilization of Test Consoles and Desktop Meter Stations are essential to role
- Experience with basic RF communications is an asset
- Proven aptitude for troubleshooting and fault isolation / resolution
- Ability to withstand strenuous physical activity inherent to the work performed, as well as to function effectively outside under a variety of weather conditions and through all seasons.

Additionally, as the successful Meter Technician 1, you are a team player who is professional, detail oriented, organized, has developed judgment and possesses problem-solving skills. Using your knowledge of meters/devices, tools and other programs, you comfortably switch between tasks based on urgency, impact or other factors at play. You take initiative and look for ways to for improve processes as required. You use your communication skills (both written and verbal) to collaborate with others. You possess a high level of safety awareness and demonstrate safe work practices at all times.
