Flagger/laborer

**Prairie North Construction Ltd. is a heavy civil construction company with 27 years in the industry hiring for the position for Flaggers/Labors.**

**This position is based out of Edmonton, Ab. This is a project-based position.**

**Description**:Flaggers will be responsible for safety directing traffic through Construction sites and work zones. In this role, general duties will include but are not limited to holding signs and standing outside for long hours in varying weather conditions, lifting up to 50lbs. occasionally, and communicating with the crew through handheld radios. 7 days a week 10-12 hour shifts.

**Responsibilities**:

- Flagging motorists to warn them of obstacles or repair work ahead.
- Taking ownership of keeping work zone and passing cars safely
- May need to place signs, barricades, traffic cones, and other warning devices. Duties will vary according to job assignment.
- Directing traffic flow using Department of Transportation Regulations.
- Installation of silt fence and geotêxtiles.
- Hand raking granular materials.
- Experience working around Heavy Equipment.
- Shoveling Equipment tracks.
- Knowledge of earthworks, road building, road construction etc.
- Cleaning up construction site.

**Qualifications**:

- Valid Flaggers Certificate
- Dress appropriately for all weather conditions.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with a 3 year abstract to be provided.
- Communication skills required - Flaggers remain in constant contact with crew and operators.
- Able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
- 2 years+ experience in traffic control preferred.
- 2 years+ construction experience
- Must provide CSA approved steeled toed safety boots above ankle height
