Safety Specialist

**Objective: The** **Safety Specialist** works with our manufacturing team to promote a culture of safety. They build relationships with all stakeholders, ensure compliance, and ensure policies and procedures are expertly communicated.
**Main Responsibilities**:
- Ensure compliance with all current safety legislation.
- Manage Safety Management System and suggest continuous improvements.
- Develop, update, and review safety-related documents including Policies, SOP, SWP, OPL.
- Develop, update, and ensure safe work procedures are in place for all required processes and equipment.
- Conduct safety orientation for new employees and contractors, ensuring the information is current.
- Conduct internal and external safety training as needed.
- Assist manufacturing employees to conduct job hazard analysis.
- Maintain master list of safety-related employee training and ensure everyone’s required training is up to date.
- Oversee monthly OHC activities including scheduling meetings.
- Conduct safety audits /OHC ensuring recommendations are communicated and implemented.
- Facilitate incident investigations and assist in root cause analyses on all accidents and near misses and ensure recommendations are communicated and implemented.
- Process all necessary documentation for work-related and non-work-related injuries.
- Coordinate return-to-work programs.
- Manage first aid kits and emergency equipment, including performing monthly inspections
- Ensure safety records and documentation are current and organized.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments as needed.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with industry groups.
- Manage safety KPI’s and metrics.
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Strong interpersonal and Organizational skills.
- Experience administering safety programs.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
**Education and/or Training**:
- Excellent knowledge of current safety legislations.
- Post-secondary education in a safety-related program or equivalent experience.
- Experience with COR certification is an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Lean manufacturing certification or equivalent experience
