**JOB SUMMARY**
- Accommodations Planning is responsible for the delivery of space and accommodation planning services and operations to the corporation, as well as participating on cross-departmental teams involved in the design, construction, rehabilitation and/or retrofitting of City buildings.
- You manage total project delivery of concurrent space planning and accommodation projects from inception, RFP development, consultant selection, pre-design, detailed design, specifications, tendering, award, construction, rehabilitation, testing, commissioning, turnover to clients, and warranty.
- You are responsible for: managing multiple projects for all phases of the project delivery, from project inception through consultant selection (where applicable), public consultation, environmental assessments, pre-design, detailed design, tendering, and award, to construction; monitoring, tracking and reporting on project status; approving all project expenditures; arranging all project related testing; and handling commissioning/turnover to operating branches.
- You also: provide a review, approval and monitoring function for projects; contribute to the review and development of corporate space planning and accommodation standards, and carry out other duties as assigned.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of 4 year university degree in Architectural Studies (BAS), Interior Design (Bachelor of Interior Design, Applied Arts (Interior Design) or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience related to space planning, design and construction of accommodation projects, including 3 years of project management experience.

**KNOWLEDGE**
- Interior design principles, space and accommodation planning, design, construction and rehabilitation methods and practices
- City Regulatory Code, as amended from time to time
- Related federal and provincial regulations, standards, codes and by-laws pertaining to building, fire, accessibility, health and safety, construction, and environmental regulations
- Related Corporate standards and guidelines for employee work space
- Principles of project management, including: concepts pertaining to work breakdown structures, cost containment/control and reporting; process for developing quote calls, Request for Qualifications & Requests for Proposals, including acceptance, review and selection of consulting engineers; and processes for tendering and contracting work
- General knowledge of recognized construction materials, methods, processes, and practices and a wide range of building construction disciplines
- Environmental Assessment Act as it relates to the recycling/disposal of building materials
- Remediation procedures/techniques, including the removal of asbestos
- Impacts of interior work in city buildings with heritage designations
- Protocols for responding to senior management/councillor inquiries, conducting public consultation and preparing reports, briefing notes and other communiqués
- Experience in the use AutoCAD tools such as layers, 3D presentation drawings, layout and construction drawings to update and prepare plan proposals drawings as well as code and standard drawings review
- Must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and city policies and procedures, including the rights and duties of workers.

- Manage concurrent activities with consultants, contractors, other levels of governments and external agencies/utilities
- Able to identify and analyze problems involving data, resources, scheduling, technical and other difficulties and develop solutions
- Effectively manage work pressures, multiple demands, conflicting priorities and stressful situations
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to internal councillor inquiries and inquiries/complaints from clients and to present technical material in formats conducive to various audiences
