Under the supervision of the Principal Planner, the Clerk A Receptionist is responsible for all aspects of the front reception area for the Urban Planning and Design Division, which includes administrative duties, greeting customers in person and responding to and redirecting all telephone inquiries, as required.

This position is also responsible for various financial functions, maintaining and ordering office supplies, and providing clerical relief for other positions within the division.

**As the **_Clerk A - Receptionist_**_ _**you will**:

- Perform telephone, reception and administrative duties for the Urban Planning and Design Division.
- Provide clerical duties for the Plan Implementation and Downtown and Neighbourhoods branches, including the housing portfolio.
- Perform various financial functions for the Division.
- Perform other duties consistent with the classification, as assigned.
- Process all incoming and outgoing mail for employees in the Urban Planning and Design Division.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Grade 12 Diploma with relevant training in business and office procedures or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience in an office setting providing clerical/reception support.
- Ability to type accurately at a minimum of 40 w.p.m.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public, in varying circumstances, both in person and over the telephone.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees in other departments and external contacts.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to exercise sound judgment.
- Experience in PeopleSoft Financial, or similar accounting or purchasing software and 311 Verint system would be an asset.

**Conditions of employment**:

- The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- Prior to commencement of employment, the successful applicant will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination by providing a Government of Manitoba issued QR code and photo identification.
