Position Title:
Research Associate

Job Summary:
The Faculty of Engineering is seeking for a highly motivated research associate to work on the new design of course contents for communication in Engineering, in cooperation with Professors in the Faculty of Engineering.
- Conduct thorough research on best practices and emerging trends in communication within the engineering field:
o Research various communication strategies in Engineering

o Research best practices in teaching communication to undergraduate engineering students

o Research/ literature review for best practices in the assessment of communication
- Develop comprehensive course material including lectures, assignments, projects, and prepare assessments, that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
- Collaborate with faculty members and industry professionals to ensure course content is relevant and up to date.
- Utilize various instructional design methodologies to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
- Review and revise existing course material to enhance clarity, coherence, and educational impact.
- Integrate multimedia elements, such as videos, simulations, and interactive modules, to support diverse learning styles.
- Assist in the evaluation of course effectiveness through student feedback and performance metrics.
- Stay informed about advancements in engineering communication and incorporate new findings into course content.
- Present research findings in conferences or prepare peer‐reviewed articles

Education / Experience:
PhD in Engineering or Science, or exceptionally PhD in Education with Bachelor in Engineering with extensive experience in course design.

Experience in teaching or designing course content in technical communication is required.

Experience in teaching Engineering and in technical communication is required.

Other Qualifying Skills and Abilities:
Experience in working in an academic environment, effective interpersonal skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;

Must be a self‐motivated individual who can work both autonomously and in group settings working in project milestones and deadlines;

Strong computer literacy to work with McGill LMS system

Professionalism, thoroughness, punctuality and reliability
- Knowledge of French and English:_ _McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 4 on a scale of 0-4._
