**Job Posting: Security Guard (Independent Contractor)**

**About Us**:
We are a community-based addiction medicine program dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to those in need. We are seeking a reliable and experienced Security Guard to help maintain a safe and supportive environment for our clients and staff.

**Position Overview**:
The Security Guard will work 12 hours per week, divided into three 4-hour shifts, with the potential for additional hours as needed. The role requires a proactive and compassionate approach, particularly in engaging with clients who may be experiencing homelessness or addiction.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintain a safe and secure environment for clients and staff
- Engage respectfully with clients, encouraging a positive environment
- Discourage loitering and address any safety concerns promptly
- Communicate effectively with staff, clients, visitors, and local authorities when needed
- Observe and report any unusual or suspicious activities
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and interactions

**Requirements**:

- Valid Ontario Security Guard License (required)
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and/or addiction
- Proven experience with de-escalation techniques and maintaining a calm demeanor in challenging situations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively

**Compensation**:
$20 - $25 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. This is an independent contractor position with hours beginning at 12 per week, divided into three 4-hour shifts, with potential for additional shifts as required.
