We are currently searching for **Firestoppers **to work in various locations throughout Winnipeg and surrounding areas.
Wages start at $18.67 and can go up to $31.49 per hour.
**Job Summary**
As a Firestopper, you will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of fire protection systems. The role of a Firestopper involves the following duties:
- Installing structural protection to the frame of a building, such as mineral sprays or intumescent
- Constructing fire resistant walls and ceiling linings
- Installing thermal and acoustic insulation, fire seals as in, top & bottom of wall, penetrations, openings, cable trays and much more.
- Using access equipment such as ladders, scaffolding and aerial lifts
- Following technical drawings and plans
- Keeping track of all firestopping documentation
**Reports To**
Site Supervisor and Project Manager
**Other Job Duties**
- Use of basic hand tools such as knives, drills, measuring tape, tin snips, caulking guns
- Coordinate work with project manager and other trades on site
- Lifting and carrying materials around the job site
- Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines and fill out all required pre-job safety documentation
- Work at heights on ladders and operate aerial lifts when required
- Work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year at multiple job locations
**Requirements**:
- Reliable means of transportation and valid driver’s license
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Personal cellphone
- Good level of physical fitness
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Ability to operate required tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills
- Time management skills
- Basic math skills
**Work Conditions**
- Ability to work with tools and materials
- Work with or around insulation materials such as fiberglass
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g., hard hat, safety boots, etc.)
- Requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Hazards associated with the construction industry
**Salary**: $18.67-$31.49 per hour
