**Full Time Cook**

**Since 1974, Sunrise Healing Lodge Society has provided Aboriginal based programs dealing with addictions in the community. We help men, women and their families recover from the destructive effects of alcohol, drug and gambling addictions. Our 14-week abstinence based program is based on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and Indigenous Culture and Traditions.**

**Job Duties**:

- Prepare and produce food items required for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service as outlined by the managers and meetings, as required.
- Execute breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
- Maintain a sanitary and efficient service and prep area.
- Maintain a sanitary and organized walk-in and dry storage area.
- Ensure food is handled and stored according to health and safety standards.
- Ensure effective communication with management, clients, volunteers and staff.
- Ensure proper receipt and storage of food deliveries.
- Safe handling of all kitchen equipment.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

**Qualifications**:

- Two years experience as a Cook is preferred.
- Prior Non-profit, camp, hotel or restaurant experience is an asset.
- Experience working with diverse and marginalized populations is essential.
- Exceptional oral communication skills.

**Physical Demands**:
The Cooks may be required to perform a variety of physical duties, including:

- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Climb ladders or stairs.
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time.
- Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands.
- Work with arms above shoulder height.

**Work Schedule and Remuneration**:

- Specific salary/wage details can be discussed at the interview phase.
- This full-time position will receive benefits after four months of satisfactory employment.
- Staff may be expected to work weekdays, weekends, and general holidays.
