**Unit/Project Description**:
The Department of Health Research Services (HRS) and the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Office are seeking a talented team member as a Program Manager to help us enhance the capacity of researchers within the Faculty of Health Sciences. This team member will lead and facilitate teams to develop tools and resources to support faculty members across all disciplines in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The Position will report to the Director of HRS, but work closely with the Associate Dean, CPD and their delegates.
This position is a 2-year contract to complete a series of projects that will address the needs identified in the town halls, needs assessment, and leadership meetings. This includes the creation of learning e-modules, creation of a mentorship program, curation of resources and templates, offering of new networking and educational workshops/retreats, and other organizational development opportunities in collaboration with CPD and HRS.
Currently, this position is hybrid with a minimum of 1 day working on campus (including David Braley Health Sciences Centre). Requirements may change during the contract period.
**Job Summary**:
The Program Manager is responsible for managing a program within a unit or a department.
- Implements and manages program activities and facilitates ongoing program development and evaluation.
- Responsible for the overall quality of program services and responding to evaluation data to make ongoing program improvements.
- Participates in critical appraisal of research related to assessing the needs of the program.
- Responsible for managing the program budget and forecasting projected resource needs.
- Deals with stakeholders and participants on a provincial and national basis.
**Purpose and Key Functions**:
- Analyze current program operations and identify areas for process improvement and develop implementation plans.
- Oversee the marketing, research and training aspects of the program.
- Coordinate training workshops involving participants both internal and external to the University.
- Develop and implement knowledge transfer strategies and write a variety of communication and information dissemination documents.
- Proofread and edit dissemination materials and data.
- Design search strategies and conduct literature searches.
- Critically appraise published research according to evidence-based principles.
- Summarize research findings by authoring research abstracts and sections of manuscripts.
- Create poster presentations for national and international conferences.
- Participate in research and scholarly activities related to assessing the needs and conducting evaluations of the program through data collection, critical appraisal and statistical analysis, and the dissemination of results to stakeholders and funding agencies.
- Maintain and update the program’s website content and contact management database. Track and monitor program participation rates.
- Maintain a literature and bibliographic database.
- Stay abreast of new research, methodology and critical appraisal techniques, and software releases for data analysis software.
- Attend training sessions and collaborate with database consultants.
- Act as a liaison between stakeholders locally, provincially and nationally by coordinating the activities of an advisory board or steering committee.
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops and organize strategic planning sessions.
- Negotiate external services with suppliers and contractors.
- Manage budget to ensure cost for program is on track, adjust budget forecasts to accommodate unforeseen expenses.
- Develop project budgets by summarizing financial reports and monitor expenditures.
- Adapt to changes in funding availability or changing stipulation of granting agency or funder.
- Gain cooperation of program partners and engagement of program participants.
**Supervision**:
Supervise and direct the activities of up to 4 continuing employees.

Master's degree in Health Sciences or related field.
Requires 4 years of relevant experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience.
