**JOB SUMMARY**
The Childcare Worker is responsible for the care and supervision of a small group of children, including performing activities that ensure the health, safety, and progress of each child in the group. The Childcare Worker is also responsible for training and scheduling the playroom curriculum.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- _Reporting and Documentation_ - develop both short
- and long-term lesson plans that align with curriculum goals and developmental best practices. Create monthly planning charts based on individual child observations. Maintain accurate and organized records, including accident and incident reports, daily anecdotal observations, activity, meal, and medication logs, miscellaneous documentation such as attendance, medication, and time sheets
- _Training and Supervision_ - train and mentor new staff. Supervise assistants, aides, and volunteers in the playroom
- _Program planning and Coordination_ - plan and schedule playroom activities while ensuring proper staff-to-child ratios. Organize and coordinate field trips that align with program objectives. Set up the playroom environment to meet licensing standards and reflect program philosophy. Involve assistants and volunteers in contributing to weekly and monthly curriculum planning.
- _Child Development and Care_ - ensure children’s health, safety, and developmental needs are met. Provide supervision and care including feeding, diapering, and guiding personal habits. Organize educational and recreational activities. Identify and report developmental concerns or suspected abuse.
- _Equipment and Facilities_ - maintain a clean, safe environment by inspecting for hazards and implementing safety protocols. Oversee facility and equipment upkeep, cleanliness, and sanitation.
- _Family and Community Relations_ - communicate openly with families and provide support and referrals. Foster positive relationships with families, coworkers, and external professionals.
- _Cleaning_ - ensure all surfaces, areas, toys, and bedding are regularly cleaned and sanitized.
- _Professional Conduct and Compliance_ - attend staff and in-service meetings. Maintain strict confidentiality. Adhere to all licensing regulations and operational standards. Participate in emergency drills.
- Additional duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**:
- Required Certifications:
- Childcare Level 1 or equivalent.
- Standard First Aid/ CPR is required.
- Personal Attributes:
- Ability to read and understand manuals.
- Desire to work with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, dependable, and responsible.
- Detail-oriented, including strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- General Employment Requirements:
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
