**The Role**

To achieve these objectives, this position brings a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the execution of the Internal Audit Work Plan as approved by the Audit Committee
- Reviews all operational areas, business units, accounting procedures, credit processes, physical operations inspection, and test staff knowledge, compliance, and adherence to policy
- Communicate resource and staffing needs to Manager, Internal Audit to ensure a sustainable, effective, and compliant Internal Audit Program
- Contribute to the development, review, and distribution of audit reporting to all business units and a summary of outstanding issues to the Audit Committee and Chief Leadership Team through the Manager, Internal Audit
- Responsible to ensure audit findings and recommendations are appropriate, timely and shared with business units. Ensures that all audit findings, exceptions, and proposed adjustments in working papers, are adequately documented and reviewed by the Manager, Internal Audit and Director, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
- Communicate effectively with management and follow-up on status of outstanding management action plans which includes verification of action plan completeness
- Establish audit link with ERM by facilitating detailed process and internal controls registry
- Contributes to the continual improvement of the Internal Audit program through staff education, staff awareness training and internal audit skill development as appropriate
- Work with external auditors and regulatory bodies as directed by the Manager, Internal Audit and as appropriate, to provide information, demonstrate internal control processes and assist in finalizing audit reports and documentation
- Maintain awareness of changes to laws, regulations or guidance affecting the Credit Union
- Recommend policies, procedures and programs stemming from Internal Audit findings to ensure Credit Union controls and processes continually improve
- Responsible to ensure that audit activity is compliant with professional Audit and reporting standards, performance targets, budgets, mandate and timelines
- Responsible for ensuring key areas of concern identified during an audit are brought to the attention of the Manager, Internal Audit and Director, ERM as appropriate
- Abide by YNCU policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and practice
- Work safely in accordance with YNCU’s Health & Safety Policy, procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act as amended from time to time
- Other duties as required

**Competencies & Skills**:

- Computer literacy including a working knowledge of, but not limited to, SQL language, Advanced Excel and MS Office
- Well-developed writing skills to prepare material involving interpretation, analysis, assessment, and reports
- Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Superior customer service ability
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and flexible
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build relationships within department and across YNCU
