**Room Service Server
- The Westin Nova Scotian**

You like making people smile, have a welcoming nature and like a fast paced work environment. Serving is in your blood and delivering a good meal and presenting it to your in room guests makes you happy. As the**Room Service Server** you will:

- **Be Exacting** - arriving at work on time and getting your work area/trays set up and ready, and then keeping the area clean throughout the day is a key part of your job. Ensuring that a tray is perfect, with all needed service articles included, is key to a good room service order. As service or your shift ends, all cleaning duties related to the rooms service area may also fall into your role.
- **Be a Food & Beverage Professional -** understanding, explaining, suggesting and presenting an order in a professional way is your role. You are offering prompt, excellent service and thus creating a wonderful in-room dining experience for our guests, including presenting the check and retrieving the trays as needed.
- **Be a Safety & Security Agent -** follow your hotel's established safety and security policies & procedures. Anticipate problems and call management as needed. ServSafe certificate/alcohol training required.

**Requirements**:
**Education & Experience**:

- At least 1 year of progressive experience food & beverage
- Valid ServSafe Certificate preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent required

**Job Requirements**:

- Long hours sometimes required
- Able to perform medium intensity work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly, to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Able tosee details at close range
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for lengthy periods of time
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly in English
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
- Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from multiple sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
- Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions

**Duties**:

- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner
- Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working
- Comply at all times with standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
- Ensure compliance with all local liquor laws, and health & sanitation regulations
- Ensure compliance with departmental standards of practice
- Deliver Room Service orders promptly and accurately
- Restock and clean room service area prior to close of shift
- Successfully complete close out reports, drop cash, receipts and reports at the end of shift
- Ensure trays are properly set
