Calgary Housing (CH) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the City of Calgary. CH is a purpose-driven social enterprise and the largest housing operator in Calgary, providing safe and affordable housing to more than 27,000 Calgarians. The Leader, Portfolio Management will be an instrumental leader and change champion to help us reach our ambitious vision to be the best
- for our residents, our employees, and our city. Primary duties include:
- Develop, monitor and update short term and long term real estate strategies for all portfolios managed by Calgary Housing (CH), in line with CH¿s Growth Strategy and Strategic Business Plan.
- Work with corporate partners to implement and execute real estate portfolio strategy at a corporate, portfolio and site level. Align and integrate strategies, actions and tactics with capital investment plans, asset management plans, annual operating and capital budgets, corporate risk registers and annual and strategic work plans.
- Oversee development of capital funding strategies to support CH¿s 10 year Capital Growth Pipeline.
- Lead, project manage or participate in real estate projects such as new development, redevelopment, acquisitions, private development partnerships, and site decommissioning. Engage with key partners, presenting proposals and recommendations to inform real estate and property management decisions and strategies; communicate decisions and next steps.
- Identify opportunities for revenue improvement, revenue generation and expense reduction based on monitoring and understanding revenue expense and analysis.
- Monitor internal and external industry trends on the political, economic, financial, legal, real estate and regulatory environments to anticipate and respond to risks, trends, forecasts and opportunities.
- Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to develop property level recommendations.
**Qualifications**
- A degree in Business, Project Management, Real Estate, Urban Planning or related field is required.
- At least 8 years of experience with real estate strategy, real estate portfolio management, project management, financial analysis, modelling and forecasting, asset management and planning or capital development is required.
- An MBA in project management, finance, real estate or business will be considered an asset.
- A real estate designation such as Certified in Real Estate Finance (CRF) or financial designation such as Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) will also be considered an asset.
- Success in this position requires the following competencies: strong research skills, strategic planning, analytical thinking, problem solving, relationship building, project management and decision making skills.
- You have the ability to successfully manage resources and make appropriate decisions to achieve results aligned with business goals.
