Vancouver, Canada Hong Way Construction Full time

At **Hong Way Construction**, we are currently looking to hire a detail-oriented **Framer/labourer** to join our team. The Framer will be working in a fast-paced environment, and working efficiently to overcome challenges while keeping our home builds on time and on budget. Working closely with Hong Way who has over 25 years of experience in framing, you will provide support for all framing requirements throughout the manufacturing and building process.

**Responsibilities**
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware
- Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in residential homes.
- Safely use various power tools such as drills and saws
- Safely use general pneumatic tools such as nail guns and staple guns
- Identify and communicate production problems as they arise and take action to correct them.
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Prior experience with a variety of hand and power tools is an asset but not mandatory
- Basic knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and current construction practices is preferred
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings and specifications is an asset

**Key Competencies**:

- English and Chinese (Cantonese) speaking proficiency is an asset
- Highly organized and attentive to detail
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a team and to work independently
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Safety conscious

**Work Conditions and Environment**:

- Obtaining a driver’s license and having access to a vehicle to travel to different job sites
- Construction environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in the heat, cold, wet, and dry weather conditions
- Must wear personal protective equipment necessary to comply with required safety standards
- Tasks require walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, working at heights, navigating rough terrain, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs
- May require long periods of sitting, walking, and standing
