Saw Operator

Job Summary

The Saw Operator operates & maintains horizontal band saws, coordinates and expedites flow of raw materials according to production needs, and maintains manual or computerized records.

Key Areas of Responsibility and Associated Duties
- Safe operation of two automatic horizontal scissor style band saws with digital controls
- Maintain, control and issue all raw material inventories related to the saw operation
- Monitor raw stock materials to ensure inventory is accurate and adequate to suit company needs
- Ensures all materials are properly picked and adjusted in JobBOSS
- Organize and perform inventory counts to verify accuracy of stock
- Ensure all materials are properly identified and stored in compliance with material requirement and company policy
- Properly identify different grades of product
- Safely move or transport materials from one department to another, manually or using material handling equipment
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment
- Perform duties outside typical assignments, as required

**Qualifications**:

- Ability to operate a horizontal style band saw
- Ability to monitor and manage all inventory related to the saw operation

Minimum Education
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Forklift Training

Minimum Experience:

- 3 years of experience in an appropriate trade preferred
- Experience in an ISO quality environment is recommended

Special Training or Certificates
- Current WHMIS is required

Skills and Abilities
- Ability to effectively communicate within a team environment
- Self-starter with the ability to work effectively with limited supervision but with controlled guidance
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and maintains a strong commitment to the B&D Manufacturing Safety Program at all times
- Must be proficient in the safe operation of lifting devices such as forklifts, pallet jacks and cranes
- Must be able to read and write effectively and legibly
- Attention to detail and accurate
- Well organized/time management

Working Conditions
- Work requires ability to perform duties in various environments
- Work involves considerable stooping, bending, lifting, and standing
- Frequent movements regularly required: wrists, hands, legs, and arms

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
