Program Manager, Major Infrastructure Grants

Reporting to the Managing Director, Finance & Operations, the Program Manager, Major Infrastructure Grants will be responsible for the logístical project management of major infrastructure and operating grants at the OHRI (eg. Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), Ontario Research Fund (ORF), Genome Canada, etc). This will include both pre-award and post-award activities, working in close collaboration with researchers and key members of the OHRI administrative team including the Senior Grants Officer, Manager of Finance, and Research Safety Manager, as well as acting as the liaison with the Faculty of Medicine Research Office at the University of Ottawa. More specifically, the incumbent will act as the primary coordinator of all current and pending major grants with responsibilities including:
Pre-Award
- Working with the Senior Grants Officer to stay abreast of pending and announced major infrastructure funding opportunities, and ensuring communication to researchers of the same
Post-Award
- Overseeing procurement of infrastructure in accordance with approved budgets and funding timelines
- Ensuring compliance with reporting requirements - assisting with the compilation of reports, ensuring timely submission, etc.
General
- Developing and maintaining a strong relationship with the research offices at the University of Ottawa to coordinate all elements of related grant and award management (pre-award, post-award, etc.)
- Tracking all past, current, and pending major infrastructure and operating grants held at the OHRI
- Liaising with OHRI core facility directors to identify and track upcoming infrastructure needs
- Assisting as required with complex infrastructure procurement that is not funded through institutional grants
- Leading or assisting with the management of special projects at the request of the Senior Administration
- Participating as required in various institutional working groups and committees
**Basic Requirements (Education/Experience)**:
- Bachelor’s level degree in a relevant field (i.e. health sciences, life science) or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of project management experience
- Knowledge of the health research granting environment (eg. CFI, CIHR, ORF, etc)
- Experience in the management of large infrastructure and/or operating grants
- Strong ability to develop and maintain partnerships and working relationships at all levels of the organization and externally
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
- Strong knowledge of the health research environment
- Ability to handle competing priorities and meet firm deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to be an effective change agent
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to deal with difficult situations
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- PMP Certification
**Contract Details**:
This is a full-time, 3-year contract position with the opportunity for renewal.
**Salary**: Min: $40.622/hr. - Max: $51.628/hr.
