**The opportunity**:
Reporting to the VP, Investments & Lead Portfolio Manager, the Portfolio Manager, WAPC will be responsible for strategic input and oversight of the activities on the Wellington-Altus Private Counsel division. The Portfolio Manager, WAPC will work at the direction of the VP, Investments & Lead Portfolio Manager to promote organic growth, client outcomes, economic/margin maximization, efficiency, and advisor best practice within the Wellington-Altus Private Counsel division.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- As a registered Advising Representative, be a center of excellence in administering and providing advice and best in class service with respect to business referred to WAPC’s US division for registrants of the firm’s CIRO dealer.
- Collaborating closely with the Senior Management Team and cross-functionally to align operational goals with overall company objectives.
- Delivering implementing, and monitoring strategy, policy and key performance indicators for WAPC, including; pricing, advisor recruitment/transition, and managed channel/program development and management.
- Building strong partnerships with service providers and partners, ensuring accountability, efficiency and to support an exceptional IA and client experience.
- Providing ongoing support regarding recruitment & transition of new advisors to the WAPC platform.
- Developing and delivering guidance on the use of internally managed programs and third-party solutions and achieving a harmonized balance between practice efficiency and optimizing client outcomes.
- Providing ongoing support, training, and development opportunities for IAs, APM/PMs offering guidance on best practices in support of growth and efficiency.
- Oversight and supervision of WAPC investment advisors including coaching and mentoring new advisors.
- Ensuring compliance with Canadian and U.S. regulatory requirements, industry standards and internal policies related to securities and portfolio composition.
- Serving as a liaison between internal departments to support program marketing, training and advisor support for all programs and platforms within WAPC, including assisting in the development of materials, presentations & tools.
- Supporting the department and VP in projects, initiatives, and activities established as a priority for the business and in further of asset growth, vertical integration and margin enhancement goals.
- Serving as a central point of contact for advisor communications and inquiries for WAPC’s programs.
- Supporting executive management in forecasting and budgeting activities for the WAPC program and platform suite.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in finance, business administration, economics or related field of study.
- 5+ years securities industry experience
- Direct experience dealing with Investment Advisors and Portfolio Managers and retail clients
- Thorough understanding of Securities Industry products, capital markets, financial instruments, and investment strategies.
- Deep working knowledge of “best practices” in the financial services industry, with particular focus on portfolio management.
- Current licensing as a Registered Representative (RR) with CIRO under the Portfolio Manager category or as an Advising Representative (AR) under the Portfolio Manager category.
- Completion of applicable securities industry courses offered by the Canadian Securities Institute including Canadian Securities Course, and the Conducts and Practices Handbook Course.
- Successful completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program and/or Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation.
- Experience with National Instrument 31-103, and the SEC’s Securities Act of 1940 (preferred).
- Knowledge and proficiency with portfolio management and risk modelling systems such as; Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, FactSet, etc.
- Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day to day work and long-term goals.
