Responsible for day to day operations, testing, and supervision of the activities of a Geotechnical laboratory (testing includes materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt testing). This includes ensuring that the laboratory testing services are conducted in a safe manner in accordance with McIntosh Perry’s Health and Safety policy and consistent with quality protocols dictated by CCIL, MTO, and CNSC.

The Laboratory Supervisor shall efficiently collaborate with all Project Mangers and colleagues to meet project requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner.

**Responsibilities and Essential Requirements**:

- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Soils, Aggregate, Concrete and Asphalt laboratory; (This includes the supervision of 1 to 3 staff members)
- Perform day to day laboratory testing services of the soils, aggregate, concrete and asphalt as may be required as a result of staff scheduling and project requirements. I.e., As Lab Manager, you are still required to perform the required test - efficiently, and when required;
- Ensures that laboratory personnel are properly trained, supervised and equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to ensure their personal safety in the laboratory and on job sites;
- Supervises or monitors laboratory activities to ensure that the work is executed on time and in accordance with the client and project requirements and within company policies, procedures and standards;
- Supervises the efficient utilization of facilities and equipment assigned to them and makes requests for additional equipment and facilities as needed;
- To work efficiently with the team to share the staff between field and the lab and to ensure the assigned work is delivered in an efficient and timely manner;
- To collaborate with the Geotechnical Division VP, Managers and Project Manager to promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects and with the other MP Geotechnical Lab Managers including Ottawa, as required;
- Provides supplemental operating policies and procedures unique to the laboratory to ensure that the testing services are accomplished consistent with all applicable standards and the geotechnical team’s quality policy;
- Ensures the proper organization and appearance of the laboratory area for which he/she is responsible, including keeping the area and equipment clean and uncluttered;
- Preparation and distribution of reports, and liaison with McIntosh Perry’s geotechnical staff and clients;
- Ensures that laboratory personnel follow company administrative policies such as time-sheet submission, expense reports, time-off request and etc.;
- Provides annual feedback on the cost analysis of laboratory testing cost per test item for each new fiscal year;
- Evaluates the performance of all employees within the laboratory and assists them in their professional development and growth, consistent with company policies and procedures;
- Oversees calibration and maintenance of the laboratory equipment;
- Supervises the administrative systems of the laboratory to ensure that health and safety documents, laboratory protocols, calibration certificates, staff training certificates and any other documents needed for lab operation are in place and maintained up to date;
- Assist in the management of all lab financials, including expenditures, revenue and profit;
- Play an active role in business development activities and marketing by establishing and mainta
