Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis (G-W WIC) is a feminist community-based organization providing services to women and their children who have experienced abuse, sexual violence and/or trafficking.

**Marianne’s Place** requires **Relief Support Counsellors**

Classification 111b Level 1-4
Marianne’s Place is a residential workplace operating 24 hours, 7 days a week.

**Requisite Skills, Abilities and Qualifications**:
We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate individual with the skills and abilities to join Marianne’s Place team.
If you have flexible availability and are able to work a variety of shifts: during the weekday, weekends, days, afternoons, overnight, statutory holidays and summer and winter holidays, and have the flexibility to work last minute, please consider this opportunity.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Working prescheduled and short notice shifts, at all times of day during the week.
- Supporting Women and their children in their experiences of violence through individual and group support.
- Providing residents and callers with support, options, referrals and connections to community resources.
- Providing crisis intervention and crisis counselling services to callers and residents.
- Facilitating dialogue concerning resident relationships, house rules, etc.
- Providing programming, advocacy, accompaniment and crisis support.
- Performing requisite administration, security and maintenance.
- Supporting women in navigating the legal, housing, income and child welfare systems.
- Acting as a support, advocate and resource person on issues of sexual abuse and domestic violence.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in social work or related field.
- Minimum 1 year previous experience working with and advocating for women and children.
- Experience in crisis intervention, trauma informed, harm reduction support and advocacy.
- Experience working from an anti-oppressive, feminist counselling framework.
- Experience working in a residential setting.
- Awareness of rural and cultural barriers abused women and their children face.
- Specialized knowledge of violence against women including sexual violence, childhood sexual abuse and Human Trafficking.
- Specialized knowledge of trauma, mental health and substance abuse.
- Knowledge of child development, effects of exposure to violence on children and positive parenting strategies.
- Strong administration, organizational skills and strong computer competency.
- Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills.
- Be compassionate and self-directed, have a positive and productive attitude and have the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Working knowledge of current community resources.
- Ability to work on short notice, to work all shifts; including days, evenings, weekends, overnights, statutory holidays and during peak holiday periods.
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR and CPIC & fully Vaccinated for Covid-19.
- Second language highly preferred.
