**PROFILE**

Working with the lawyers, the incumbent will provide support to the lawyers in their practice and perform various tasks related to tax law. This position receives direction and guidance; several tasks and objectives are accomplished independently. This is a full-time permanent position.

**RESPONSIBILITES**
- Follow-up with the CRA and RQ
- Prepare and file notices to tax authorities regarding amalgamations, dissolutions and other corporate transactions and reorganizations
- Assist clients with opening online tax account with the CRA and RQ
- Follow-ups with our clients on the status of their requests
- Responsible for drafting various requests to tax authorities and following up by phone on such requests
- Communicate with tax authorities by phone to obtain information on tax assessments
- Prepare various tax forms

Furthermore, the paralegal will be assigned to all tasks and responsibilities related to tax matters in the Corporate department on the following:

- Update the Corporate files
- Prepare and file resolutions on behalf of clients
- Request of files and follow-ups either in writing or by phone
- Searches for client’s Minute books in regards to the administrators in case of changes

The tax paralegal will provide support by performing a wide variety of tasks under the direct supervision of a senior tax associate and a partner. The position requires the ability to take on responsibilities for a file or project, be detail-oriented, and be able to manage competing demands. This position requires someone who is a fast and eager learner, is curious, and has the ability to meet challenges and solve problems creatively with little supervision, especially while dealing with tax authorities. Strong writing, reasoning, and verbal communication skills in both English and French are key. Someone who wants to gain new expertise in tax, shape a unique role for themselves within a team, and become a trusted resource will thrive in this position.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Ability to communicate effectively with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner
- Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Basic knowledge of current relevant legislation and government regulations
- Ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy
- Produce a high quality and quantity of work product, occasionally under tight timelines
- Able to prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary
- Handle stress in a business-like manner
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Enact or Athennian software is an asset
- Knowledge of electronic faxing systems, using and amending forms in PDF is an asset
- Bilingualism (English/French) is required
