Jr. Purchasing Agent

Established in 1982, and now a business unit within Securitas, Instantel is the global market leader in the design and production of vibration monitoring instrumentation. Our products are used in over 120 countries. Applications include civil engineering, construction, environmental, mining, mining exploration, quarry, underwater, structural health, human annoyance, military and noise.
**Responsibilities**:
Provide assistance and support for the following:
- procurement of a variety of electronic components, manufactured parts, inventory and non-inventory raw materials, and services that meet standards in quality, delivery timelines
- negotiate the lowest price per product and best terms and conditions over the phone, electronically and face to face while working within the specific corporate guidelines
- maintain a constant material supply chain with no production interruptions or negative revenue impacts
- strictly adherence to corporate policies of delegation of authority and segregation of duties
- maintain the Supplier Assessment Review and conduct quarterly reviews with input from the Sr. Purchasing Agent, Production/Service Manager/ Master Scheduler and Shipper/Receiver.
- track and report cost savings of purchase on a monthly/quarterly basis
- search out second sources for key suppliers to mitigate supply chain risks
- provide open communication to the business unit, senior management, sales, production, service, research and development departments.
- maintain a high level of professionalism within an office environment and with suppliers
- overall assist in the management of a variety of purchasing orders which encompass reviewing requisitions and procurement reports, analyzing information to determine the appropriate purchasing requirements, negotiating with vendors, and providing specific reporting on purchases
- review and act on all ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) for subsequent material revision updates and direct impact
- support the New Product Development (NPD) process in ordering components in prototype quantities
- research discrepancies in requisitions and invoices to determine appropriate corrective actions (if necessary) which includes supplier follow-up to resolve issues
- set up new supplier accounts using the Meta Storm and other corporate databases as required in accordance with the Approved Vendor List protocols
- recommend cost-saving improvements in supply chain systems, sourcing processes, quality, or materials
- effectively interact with AP department as required
- produce monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports
- any other duties or responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time
**Qualifications**:
- College Graduate Certificate in Material Planning and Purchasing or equivalent purchasing experience.
- 2 - 3 years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing and electronics environment is a must
- ability to multi-task while remaining focused on completing all tasks in a dynamic environment
- demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- strong communication, both in written and oral form
- ability to build effective relationships internal and external to the organization
- proficiency with ExactMax (MRP system), Microsoft Office, with a focus on Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP and PowerPoint.
- ability to work with highly confidential information is a must
- ability to remain focused in an interrupt-driven environment
- friendly and confident dealing when dealing with customers
- creative, highly self-motivated, a self-starter with keen attention to detail
- proven analytical, problem-solving and creative thinking abilities
- ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- demonstrated ability to work independently while at the same time maintaining a strong collaboration model with the Master scheduler, the Production and Service Manager, and anyone else requiring purchase orders to be completed internally
