Develops, documents and executes step-by-step test cases, testing strategies and user acceptance test plans based on the software requirements elicited by business analysts, developers, or other IS groups.
Performs risk analysis to best prioritize workload and test scenarios and executes according to plan.
Analyzes test plans and cases, and creates accurate test time estimations which supports the QA Manager’s ability to manage resources and meet project deadlines.
Develops and maintains procedures, templates and guidelines to ensure consistent testing procedures and that testing standards are met for audit and compliance purposes.
Delivers testing updates and maintains clear communication of defects with developers or other IS groups through well-written documentation.
Follows standards in accordance with company policy and regulation (SOX, etc.)
Analyzes release notes, feature specifications and enhancement lists, identifies test objectives and creates/executes custom test scripts with an understanding of impact to business.
Finds, reproduces, isolates, identifies, reports and tracks issues/bugs/defects through various methods.
Creates, maintains and executes the product testing plans required throughout the software's lifecycle.
Manages automated testing tools, and performs automated test scripts as required.
Conducts post release verification following a production deployment.
Maintains, upgrades and enhances test documents as needed due to requirements changes, and new information.
Performs other duties of a minor nature related to the above responsibilities, which do not affect the evaluation of the job.
Travel to various operating units as required in support of company and departmental objectives. Requirements
Two year technical Diploma in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or Business Administration (with an IT emphasis).
Minimum two (2) years’ experience with testing including writing test plans/cases/ strategies, executions of tests and issues tracking
Good understanding of the STLC & review process, various testing concepts (e.g. Functional, Usability, Availability, Performance), methodologies and industry-standard best practices
Proficient with computer systems and related programs including Microsoft Office, Access, SharePoint, and Visio.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills to properly document issues/enhancements and work directly with other areas of the business to ensure resolution.
Understanding of basic Waterfall and Iterative project management concepts
Strong investigation and analytical skills, utilizing both black and grey box testing.
Strong attention to detail with focus on ensuring the delivery of high quality accurate and reliable data.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to multi-task deadline-driven tasks
Demonstrated good interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
Understanding of querying using SQL, and experience with automated testing experience, as well as with project tracking software (ex. JIRA) would be considered assets.
