**Overview**
Reporting to the Food Safety & Operations Manager, the Food Safety Coordinator maintains the company’s food safety, organics and government regulatory documentation, ensuring compliance across all suppliers (growers/exporters/fruit purchase vendors), cold storage locations and other supporting vendors. Liaises with internal and external contacts to gather and maintain required documentation in the US and Canadian markets. Maintains positive and effective working relationships in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
**Accountabilities**
- Obtains and reviews food safety, organic and social accountability audit certificates, reports and lab tests from all suppliers, cold storages, packing locations and supporting vendors. Ensures Hold-Harmless documents are signed for all FRUP vendors.
- Processes all food safety document requests for all new growers, vendors, and cold storage facilities.
- Reviews and administers all audit and document compliance for active growers and vendors. Audits filed in TeamShare folders and uploaded into Contract Folio Console and SRM Entry.
- Approves along with the Food Safety Specialist the Exporters and Vendors folios in the Contract Folio Console and SRM Entry, respectively.
- Monitors status and provides course of action for any non-compliant audits, ensuring major deficiencies are resolved prior to approval. Coordinates with A&F department on all non-compliant growers.
- Manages food safety audits for suppliers (contracted and FRUP vendors/ growers/exporters, cold storages and packaging vendors), and communicates minimum food safety requirements.
- Maintains all audit documentation in the centralized database; ensures that accurate records are maintained and monitors compliance KPI’s. Updates and runs relevant KPI reporting in preparation of MCM meetings.
- Coordinates with designated internal Quality Controller of each site location, ensuring compliance of all food safety requirements, including training, health and safety practices, and performance of cleaning and maintenance.
- Ensures the completion of all food safety records (sanitation sheets, workers training, internal audits, pre-operational checklist, etc.) in accordance with schedule requirements.
- Oversees the completion of all lab testing (water, environmental), in accordance with schedule requirements.
- Assists along with the Food Safety Specialist to the Food Safety & Operations Manager in the completion of the annual PrimusGFS audit.
- Attends industry meetings to keep current and connected with changes and developments in the food safety and regulatory environment.
- Conducts mock recalls and traceability exercises both internally and for various business partners.
**Required Knowledge & Abilities**
- Thorough understanding of food safety as it relates to the produce industry; comprehensive knowledge of HACCP, GMP, GAP, FDA, FSMA and CFIA related regulations.
- Experienced with GFSI, Primus, CFIA, USDA and/or food safety audits is considered an asset.
- Experience with customer compliance portals (i.e., Azzule and ReposiTrak) considered an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel; general knowledge of relevant computer programs.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication (written & verbal) and customer service skills; ability to work effectively with multiple departments and forge strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and act with integrity and professionalism, adhering to company standards and control procedures.
- Strong organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple demands in a timely manner.
