We are looking for a **Financial Analyst / Payroll Support** to join our collaborative finance department at our Head Office in **Dartmouth, NS**. This role is responsible for period end closings; financial reporting, planning and analysis; providing support to payroll.

**Principle Responsibilities**
- Completes balance sheet reconciliations
- Reviews sub ledger postings and resolves issues
- Assists with month end closing activities and the annual audit
- Assists with preparing and distributing financial reporting packages
- Assists with planning, forecasting and budgeting
- Generates, balances and uploads payroll General Ledger journal entries (including month end accruals) into the accounting software
- Reviews monthly group benefits invoices for accuracy and allocates expenses to correct departments
- Reconciles payroll General Ledger accounts on a monthly basis
- Provides compensation analyses in support of the monthly Financial Statements
- Calculates commissions/bonuses on a monthly basis
- Acts as a back-up to the payroll administrator for weekly and bi-weekly processing of payroll, year end transactions/adjustments, preparation of employment forms and payroll system updates
**Required knowledge and training**
- Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting
- Professional designation with the Canada Payroll Association an asset
- 2-4 years financial accounting and payroll processing experience in a medium or large sized company
- Knowledge of federal and provincial taxation relating to compensation
- Business, finance and accounting fundamentals including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Exceptional data entry skills
- Excellent ERP and Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Strong reconciliation skills
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
