Behaviour Technician Student

New Leaf is a not-for-profit social service agency located north of Newmarket, providing residential and day supports to adults with developmental disabilities. New Leaf’s mission is to provide a safe home to, and enrich the lives of, individuals with development disabilities in a unique sensory and natural environment as we assist individuals to live and work as valued members of society and the community. We endeavor to provide quality supports and services that offer a rural option to individuals with intellectual disability, dual-diagnosis, and/or other complex needs.

We have summer contract positions available for a **Behaviour Technician Student** to work under the supervision of a clinical manager to collect data and implement behavior support plans for individuals with developmental disabilities. This role is crucial in providing direct support and assistance in assessment, implementation, and monitoring of behavior-related goals.

This is an in-person position only and will not have an option to work remotely.

**Responsibilities**
- Follow and implement behavior support plans
- Collect, record and organize behavioral data
- Assist in analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of behavioural plan
- Work closely with the clinical manager, and other staff members to ensure consistency in implementing strategies
- Communicate regularly with the clinical manager to provide updates and discuss progress
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of people we support progress and behavioural observations
- Attend team meetings and seek opportunities for ongoing professional development and education

**Education and Experience**
- Current enrollment in a relevant program, such as Behavioral Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of related (paid or volunteer) experience is preferred

**Competencies, Skills and Abilities**
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently as well as with supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- An understanding of developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills both written and spoken
- Genuine interest in helping individuals with behavioral challenges
- Knowledgeable in office 365 as well as Excell graphing
- Able to provide a vulnerable person’s police check
- Ability to travel throughout the day to different New Leaf homes is preferred
