SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts is one of Canada’s leading hotel management companies and manages a large portfolio of full-service, focused service and extended stay hotels across Canada. The company manages hotels operating under major franchise brands, such as Marriott and Hilton.
**Basic Purpose**
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for coordinating the management of our restaurant, Harbour City Bar & Grill as well as our Banquet services. The objective of the department is to achieve revenue, profit and customer satisfaction goals.
**Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Direct, supervise and develop the Food & Beverage team members. Assist with scheduling.
- Ensure all department operational procedures are followed in accordance to standards
- Maintain effective employee relations by conducting regular team meetings focusing on hotel goals
- Assist with the recruitment, selection, training and development of fod and beverage team members to ensure high standards are maintained.
- Contribute to the on boarding and training process of all new associates.
- Ensure that all associates have obtained legislated training.
- Maximize productivity through proper budgeting, scheduling and cost control; monitor the schedule daily, ensuring that staffing levels are maintained and consistent with business levels while following the guidelines created by the hotel and union.
- Participate in the development of the merchandising and marketing of all food & beverage services
- Assist department in achieving budget forecasts, revenue and profit goals.
- Ensure food and beverage cost controls are in place and followed.
- Ensure all financial reporting is maintained and accurate, including payroll and billing
- Ensure month-end procedures are completed, including inventories, costing and analysis.
- Program and maintain point of sale system.
- Ensure superior cleanliness and quality for the Food & Beverage areas
- Follow through on guest requests and/or complaints.
- Relay suggestions about menu items and guest feedback to the manager
- Build and maintain a liaison with function organizers/convenors before, during and after the execution of all services to ensure that all needs are met or exceeded.
- Ensure the security of keys, company information, and guest information.
- Committed to providing exceptional and professional customer service
- Treat everyone with respect; fosters a cooperative, productive, positive, respectful environment
- Provide information to guests about local attractions, services, hotel services & other amenities
- Maintain standards of punctuality, uniform presentation and personal hygiene
- Communicate and cooperate effectively with all departments
- Liaise closely with the Culinary team and Conference Services to ensure the success of all functions; promote teamwork between all departments focusing on the Culinary and Outlet teams.

- Other related duties and projects as assigned
**Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required**:
- Demonstrate strong leadership, team building and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record in revenue growth, promotions and training.
- Excellent customer and employee relations skills.
- Previous budget and forecasting experience.
- Organized, detail-oriented and able to take initiative.
- Experience in Point of Sales programming is a strong asset.
- Manager ProServe certification
**Preferred Education & Qualifications**:
- Minimum 2-3 years supervisory or management experience in a high volume Food & Beverage operation
- Experience working in unionized environment an asset; diploma in hospitality is an asset
- Knowledge of wine service.
- Ability to communicate verbally and written in English.
**Working Conditions**:
- Able to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs and to bend and kneel with comfort.
- Fast paced environment that is often demanding
- Stand, walk and remain on feet to perform job duties for entire shift duration
- Hours and shifts will vary according to hotel occupancy and scheduled function event.
- Shift expectations: Will include various shifts such as evenings, weekends and holidays
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $42,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
