New Beginnings Sober Living is seeking a live-in counsellor to reside at one of our (**Male Only**) Sober Living facilities and help clients reintegrate back into society.

This position will include the following duties:

- Complete regular check-ins with clients
- Conduct urine screening tests
- Monitors the safety, security, and general welfare of clients and facility during shift and documents shelter happenings and client activities as necessary
- Communicates with treatment staff regarding client care
- Implement goal initiatives, and referrals to other resources
- Coordinate with counsellors to ensure safety plan goals are being met.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide appropriate professional understanding and intervention in response to emotional, behavioural, physical needs of clients
- Maintain established routines and procedures within the facility
- Assist residents to establish and achieve individualized goals
- Maintains confidentiality of residents
- Fosters positive relationships with community programs and individuals as necessary
- Provides support to all agency program areas as requested
- Participates in shift change and staff meetings as required, shares information in a respectful, non-judgemental manner.
- Exercises good judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential information
- Completes all necessary documentation, including written records/reports
- Performs other organizational duties as assigned.
- Learn and understand health and safety standards, regulations, policies and procedures and comply with them.
- Meal Prep and helping with client transportation and scheduling

**Qualifications**
- Education:

- 1-5 years’ experience working with people with addictions and mental health
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in telephone, online, and in-person counselling
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team member

**Salary**: From $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Night shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Etobicoke, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Counselling: 1 year (required)
- 12 Step Fellowship: 1 year (preferred)

**Language**:

- English (required)
