A typical day for the Actuary
- Provide analysis and advice in the areas of plan design, implementation alternatives and system controls.
- Ensure actuarial standards and practices are employed in the development of alternatives.
- Lead organizational initiatives to mitigate risks and support internal and external stakeholders.
- Create the framework, structure and steps toward a solution for new initiatives, including the use of data analytics when applicable.
- Improve understanding of pension and actuarial concepts of other business areas by explaining the purpose and reason behind the concepts.
- Provide recommendations for administrative policy, regulatory and process changes.
- Provide guidance regarding legislation and general pension best practices.
- Liaise with plan actuaries in areas relating to actuarial determinations performed by APS.
- Stay up-to-date with respect to actuarial standards, legislation and pension plan rules to mitigate risks.

What you bring
- A Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries
- Knowledge of highly technical areas of pension plans, including legislation, administration, and actuarial practice.
- Well-rounded project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor as required.
- Efficient organizational and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting or independently, as needed.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation.
- Knowledge of data analytics is an asset.
