The Supervisor manages and supervises the centre operations and the children’s educational program, with all inter-related components: staff supervision and training, children’s programming, liaison with parents, community resources, social agencies, students in training, volunteers, and professional consultants, within the CCEYA and Regional policies. The Supervisor is the most senior employee in the daycare and is expected to create and maintain an atmosphere of learning, safety and respect in the centre.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Performs and manage the day-to-day overall operation and administration of the centre including records management, recruitment and development of staff, management of policies and procedures, child safety, environmental health/hygiene, and province licensing.
- Ensuring that all staff members understand the objectives and expectations within each classroom.
- Managing administrative tasks such as processing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general communications.
- Ensures the centre is operated in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014, Public Health, Fire Safety, Employment Standards Act and all other licensing regulations
- Manages and directs the curriculum of the centre ensuring the programs reflect diversity, culture, abilities, and program statement
- Uphold the Duty to Report and advise Managers of Childcare of any serious occurrences within 24hrs.
- See that the Daycare, classrooms and playground are well maintained, clean, in order and in good condition
- Plan and implement monthly staff meetings
- Ability to manage the staff in a positive and professional manner
- Work to keep enrollment at the daycare center up by responding to parent inquiries, giving tours, hosting open houses, advertising, and any other applicable marketing initiatives
- Performs daily inspections to ensure proper standards
- Attends all meetings of the Board of Directors and provides input as required
- Implementing and ensuring completion of training for all staff members.
- Manages client relationships including parent handbook, policies, forms and other related information
- Ensures ongoing quality of the child care program and evaluate the program for effectiveness
- Determines priorities and allocate staffing, resources, and time effectively and to meet child/adult ratios
- Acts as a resource to staff with respect to program planning
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- Proven knowledge of all relevant regulations and legislation that are applicable to the child care field
- Demonstrates knowledge and adheres to the regulations set out by the Ministry of Labour -MOL Demonstrates knowledge and adheres to the regulations set out by the Occupational Health and Safety Act-OHSA
- Strong leadership skills or supervisory role at least five to seven years experience current experience in the child care field
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Experience handling emergency situations, crises, and hostile behavior in a professional manner
- Excellent communication both written and verbally with those both internal and external to the centre
- Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy children and equipment when needed
- Flexibility to work evenings when necessary
- Willingness to work in conditions involving exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, high noise level and inclement weather
- Current First Aid certification and appropriate medical and immunization record.
- Competence using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and accounting software
- Competence in technology ( HiMama, computers, tablets etc )
- Knowledge of S.T.E.M educational learning an asset
