**Position Title**:Chief Returning Officer (CRO)

**Organizational Status**:Temporary Casual Contract

**Organization Summary**:The Students’ Association is an autonomous, student-led organization that is dedicated to serving and representing students at NorQuest College. We represent and advocate for students, offer meaningful opportunities for students to get involved and provide a range of services to assist students when they need support.

**Position Overview**:The Chief Returning Officer (CRO) is a high-level critical role responsible for overseeing and managing aspects of the Students' Council election and referenda process for the Students’ Association of NorQuest College (SANQC). This includes ensuring compliance with SANQC Bylaws, role appointment and election policies, maintaining fairness and transparency, and addressing any disputes or concerns.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring compliance with SANQC policies and bylaws.
- Investigate complaints and enforce penalties for policy violations.
- Chair the Election Committee and manage appeals.
- Oversee the planning and execution of the election timeline.
- Ensure accessibility and inclusivity in the election process.
- Coordinate with the Deputy Returning Officer (DRO) to manage logistics, confirm the eligibility of voters, and oversee the voting process.

**Qualifications**:

- Professional and comfortable speaking in public to a diverse population
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent conflict resolution, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Experience in governance or student leadership is an asset.
- Ability to remain impartial and uphold fairness.
- Capacity to address and resolve issues promptly and effectively

**Term of Contract**:The CRO is appointed for the duration of the election and referendum period, with additional time for pre-election planning and post-election reporting. Current appointment period is February 10, 2025 - March 21, 2025.

**Compensation**:Compensation is offered as a flat rate fee of $1000 for the duration of the contract.
