Seed Production Technician

We are currently seeking a qualified person to join our team as a **Seed Production Technician **for our Tilbury and Blenheim locations. This individual will join our team in the production, processing, and distribution of seed corn.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for working with growers throughout the entire field production cycle from planting through harvest.
- Parent seed preparation, planting, field scouting.
- Coordinate roguing and detasseling operations for assigned fields to ensure proper timing for these operations.
- Assisting with all aspects of seed corn production activities at our Tilbury and Blenheim production locations.
- Seed corn conditioning, treating and packaging
- Plant and equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Seed corn harvest activities which could include receiving, drying, shelling and bulk storage/seed movement.
- Safe operation of farm equipment. (Tractors, wagons)
- Load preparation for dealer shipments and warehousing activities including safe operation of forklifts.
- Sorting returned seed and assisting with repackaging
**REQUIRED SKILLS**
- Ideally, having a background or previous experience in one or more of the following settings: Field production/farming, seed processing and handling or warehousing, light industrial, manufacturing.
- Knowledge of production agriculture with experience in scouting and field inspections.
- Must be mechanically inclined, organized, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work with limited supervision.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong skills in personal organization, time management and self-initiation.
**PREFERRED EDUCATION**
- Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field of study.
**PREFERRED EXPERIENCE**
- 1-3 years of related experience.
