**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Riverside Lions is looking for passionate and caring personal caregivers to join our amazing team

The Supportive Housing (SH) Companion will work with our residents who need special support with the tasks of daily living, promoting independence, dignity and self-esteem within a safe and secure environment. An important role the SH Companion performs, is to encourage and support social and leisure activities helping to keep our residents active, happy and engaged.

**JOB DUTIES**:

- Provides cueing with personal grooming & hygiene, help with nutrition, therapeutic exercise, mobility, and emotional support.
- Provides medication reminders;
- Ensure safe food handling services;
- Performs laundry duties as assigned;
- Social Environment_:

- Conducts and encourages meaningful social and recreational activities, respecting individual choice;
- They offer companionship to our residents, providing a home like atmosphere
- Health and Safety_:

- Provides a safe environment for the residents by ensuring adherence to workplace safety and health regulations as well as site policies and guidelines;
- Communicates to the appropriate staff member/supervisor all relevant information regarding the resident and/or family.
- Notifies management or supervisor of all occurrences of injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns

**QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS**
- Health care Aide (HCA) certificate is welcome
- Food Handling Certificate and WHIMIS Training an asset.
- Life and work experience in working with older adults preferred.
- Ability to work independently and safely with mínimal supervision;
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to change on a day to day basis;
First Aid/ CPR

All applicants will also need to provide a current Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search with in the last 6 months. These checks are done for individuals 18 years and older and must be completed by local Police Services or the RCMP, based on the person’s location address.
