The Field Supervisor is responsible for leading the Sudbury VFSS Service team to success by developing and guiding the team, managing key productivity and financial drivers, engaging with customers to understand and meet their needs, and ensuring effective planning and accountability for execution.
Main Responsibilities
**The key areas of responsibility are**:
- Planning: Team business planning, objectives, safety targets, customer satisfaction and retention, and regional service long-term objectives.
- Management: hands-on management of service technicians. Working with the manager to ensure all targets are met. This includes performance reviews, branch operations, service assets, subcontractors, customer project management, etc.
- Safety/Environmental/Compliance: work towards an accident-free workplace through compliance and safety program adherence. Communication of safety and compliance-related information, participation and organization of audits, maintenance of safety and compliance systems/records, and management of deficiencies and development plans.
- Training/Mentorship: plan, organize, and facilitate training of VFSS technicians for both technical/field work and internal company requirements. Coaching in the field and remotely. Coordination with other training assets to ensure quality work.
In this role there will be regular communication and collaboration with contacts outside of the direct team, this includes customers, other internal departments, vendors, and various health, safety, and quality-related personnel.
Decision-making and flexibility are key to this role. The nature and importance of the work will at times result in high-pressure situations that require a balanced approach.
**Qualifications**:
- A thorough understanding of VFSS is critical, a developing understanding of VFSS with a strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of industrial operations may suffice.
- Prior team lead and supervisory experience
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relationships.
- Willingness to travel extensively year-round to remote locations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
- System savvy and comfortable working with various computer tools.

The role will require frequent travel to customer sites which means a variety of environmental factors both while traveling and at the customer site. This will include meeting site safety requirements including drug and alcohol testing, WHMIS, TDG, Working at Heights, Mining Common Core (or equivalent) etc. depending on the customer. Adhering to safe work practices is a must as well as leading by example and coaching and mentoring team members to also choose the safe way always.
Must be able to perform all aspects of a field technician including:
- working from heights on mining equipment
- comfortable working in restricted workspaces
- driving, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time
- have the ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs unassisted.
- have the ability to travel overnight and for extended periods of stay.
