- As a Plumber Journeyperson, you will be responsible for mechanical maintenance (including rigging and installation) on a wide variety of Wastewater Treatment Plant piping systems and their components, and operating related machine shop tools and equipment. Other duties include writing reports (work orders, progress reports and equipment recommendations), reading blueprints, interpreting manufacturer's drawings, schematics and overhaul instructions. Primary duties include:

- Review work orders that include identification of the problem, determine required services, and pick up replacement parts.
- Set up area for confined space entry, including: acquiring permits, testing air quality, setting up tripods and attaching harnesses.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace and test controls, drainage heating, piping systems, plumbing and safety devices.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections (considering issues such as seasons, lifecycle forecasting, manufacturer's specifications and design parameters) and follow up with repairs and maintenance.
- Complete service and repair records related to potable water.

**Qualifications**
- A completed Plumber Journeyman Certificate or equivalent interprovincial Red Seal.
- Must be able to qualify for Confined Space Entry Certification.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending is required.
- A mechanical aptitude and excellent trouble-shooting skills are required.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have steamfitting and pipefitting experience.
- Possession of a 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate and a Cross Connection Control Certificate is an asset, or the successful applicant must be willing to obtain both.
- Experience at a Journeyperson level at a heavy industrial plant such as a refinery, gas plant, pulp and paper plant or large Wastewater treatment plant will be considered an asset.
- Success in this position requires strong problem solving and interpersonal skills; the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision in a high call, customer-oriented work environment and adjust to changing priorities.

**Working Conditions**:Work involves exposure to all weather conditions, confined space entries, dust, noise, chemicals, hazardous and explosive gases, odours, wastewater, wet conditions and possible electric shock.

**Pre-employment Requirements**
- A security clearance will be conducted.
- Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

**Pre-employment Drug Test**: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
