Laser Operator

Overlanders Manufacturing is looking to hire full time EXPERIENCED Laser Operator for our Manufacturing Facility located in Abbotsford, BC.

As a laser operator your main responsibility will be to operate our laser cutting machines to cut sheet metal into various parts and components. You would also be responsible for setting up and programming the machines to make precise cuts according to engineering drawings and specifications.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Prepare the laser cutting machine for operation by performing tasks such as selecting and installing the appropriate cutting tools, ensuring proper alignment, and configuring machine settings based on the design requirements.
- Input the necessary cutting instructions into the machine's computerized numerical control (CNC) system, including dimensions, cutting paths, and other parameters, based on the provided design files or specifications if required.
- Regularly inspect the cut pieces for accuracy, precision, and overall quality, using measuring tools and visual inspections. Identify and resolve any issues that may arise during the cutting process, such as material defects or deviations from the specifications. Ensure the part is correct to the best of your ability before handing over to QC for approval
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow established procedures to ensure the safe operation of the laser cutting machine and minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.

**Employment Details**:

- Starting Wage: Dependent on experience
- Day Shift: Monday to Thursday, 6am to 4:30pm (40 hours per week)

**Qualifications**:

- 3+ years of laser operating experience
- Strong understanding of how laser machines work; including set up processes, programing, and troubleshoot issues that may arise.
- Knowledge of sheet metal, including their thicknesses, compositions, and properties.
- Experience with quality control processes and techniques to ensure the finished products meet the required specifications. This includes inspecting cut edges, measuring dimensions, and identifying defects or irregularities.
- Understanding laser safety protocols, including knowledge of laser classifications, safety interlocks, protective equipment, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs repetitively.
- You must be reliable, pleasant and can be trained
- Ability to follow English written and spoken directions
- Must have a Class 5 License (Public Transport is not available)
