As a Wind Turbine Technician, you are responsible to arrive to work fit for duty and conduct yourself in a safe and professional manner. Through teamwork and cooperation, you will aid in completing punch list items on wind turbines being delivered to the construction site. Supported with experienced leadership provided by the OEM vendor, you will be performing tower, nacelle, and hub preparation/repair activities, including, but not limited to:
- Packaging/unpacking of components
- Painting touch-ups
- Fixing exterior strap marks and damage from transportation (road debris, etc.)
- Electrical and mechanical repair work
- Small hardware installation
- Rust removal
- Cleaning
**ESENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**:
- Comply with all local laws, rules and regulations governing the project site
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
- Participate in daily safety meetings
- Monitor wind and weather conditions
- Complete and maintain required and accurate documentation and records associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of wind turbines and equipment
- Ensure that cleanliness of facility and equipment are met
- Sign tracking board with each site arrival and departure. In addition, submit labor hours on daily tech tracker
- Use SDS to separate regular and hazardous waste into appropriate storage containment, as required
- Manage OEM tooling receipt, location, damage, and return via their specialty software
- Daily completion and submittal of all relevant permits (Confined Space Entry) and forms (JSEA, LOTO)
- Update Turbine Logbook
**EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:
- Associate degree or technical school certificate and four (4) or more years of directly related work experience in place of a degree/technical certificate
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED**:
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and current clean drivers abstract is required
- Maintain required qualifications and training certifications as required to perform assigned job assignments.
- Familiarity with mechanical and electrical testing equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work overtime as required
- Able to work in a team environment
- Ability to climb vertical ladders, work at heights of 100 meters and move and manipulate up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in adverse and extreme weather conditions, in dust, pollen, weeds, grasses, and in confined spaces is required
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Bilingual capability is desired
- Must be able to handle emergency situations and manage work pressure and stress.
