**Job description**

**Job Summary**:
As an Asphalt Raker, you will play a crucial role in the asphalt paving process by ensuring a smooth and even surface. Working alongside a team of paving professionals, you will be responsible for distributing and raking asphalt materials to achieve the desired thickness and compaction. Your attention to detail and ability to work efficiently will contribute to the successful completion of paving projects.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Prepare Work Area**: Assist in the preparation of the work site by clearing debris, ensuring proper drainage, and setting up safety barriers and signage as needed.
- **Material Distribution**: Work with the asphalt paving crew to distribute hot mix asphalt (HMA) or other paving materials evenly across the designated area using shovels or rakes.
- **Raking and Leveling**: Rake asphalt to the specified thickness and grade, ensuring a smooth and uniform surface. Pay close attention to detail to avoid bumps, low spots, or excess material buildup.
- **Maintain Worksite Cleanliness**: Continuously clean and maintain work areas to ensure a safe and organized environment. Remove excess asphalt, debris, and other obstructions from the pavement surface.
- **Assist Crew Members**: Collaborate with other members of the paving crew, including equipment operators and laborers, to complete tasks efficiently and according to project specifications.
- **Quality Control**: Monitor the quality of the asphalt installation, checking for proper compaction, surface smoothness, and alignment with project plans and specifications.
- **Safety Compliance**: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices at all times.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in asphalt paving or related construction work preferred.
- Familiarity with asphalt materials, tools, and equipment used in paving operations.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physical stamina to perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of construction plans and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.

Pay: From $28.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
