**Job Title: Accessibility Manager**
**Location: Vancouver, BC**
**Reports to: Director, Student Affairs & Support Services**
**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
Provides overall leadership and coordination for the university's accessibility initiatives and programs. Manages a team of accessibility service coordinator(s), advisors and assistant(s) and provides guidance, direction, and support as needed. Works closely with the accessibility advisor to ensure that accessibility standards and regulations are met. Develops and collaborates with teams across the university to ensure that accessibility is integrated into the university's policies and procedures. Develops and implements accessibility goals, objectives, and action plans for the university. Ensures that the university's program, services, and facilities are accessible and compliant with accessibility standards and regulations.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Provide leadership and expertise in the design, development and implementation of organization-wide Accessibility strategies, frameworks, and execution plans
- Evaluate, understand, assess, and identify opportunities and strategies that will help enhance the Accessibility services provided by the university in all facets of business, employee and stakeholder experiences
- Provide support to Human Resources in collecting and conducting investigations related to requests for accommodation and other relevant concerns
- Manage team performance by creating the team’s Key Performance Indicators and ensuring that this is discussed with clarity with every individual member of the team
- Conduct regular check-ins with team members to ensure alignment with overall team and organizational goals. Check-ins are also to be used as a feedback mechanism to help manage team morale through a 1:1 approach
- Facilitate and foster a team environment and work to resolve conflict and maintain a positive morale
- Interview potential staff and make hiring recommendations
- Oversee the provision of accessibility services to students with disabilities or different needs, including accommodations for academic, housing, transportation, and other needs
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws related to disability accommodations
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to accessibility services
- Collaborate with staff and faculty to provide training and education on accessibility accommodations and accessibility best practices
- Coordinate with other departments, including the Registrar’s office, Student Life, Student Advising & Support Services, and other Student Services teams to ensure that accessibility needs are met across the institution
- Maintain accurate records and provide reports on the provision of accessibility services to senior leadership
- Manage the accessibility services budget
- Stay current with developments in accessibility best practices, technology, and legal requirements
- Provide accessibility advising to students, faculty, and staff on accommodations, assistive technologies, and other accessibility-related topics
- Keep up to date with emerging trends and best practices in accessibility advising
- Provide leadership on new initiatives in accessibility services to support the best practices
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:
- Master's degree in accessibility, disability studies, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in accessibility, including experience managing accessibility initiatives and programs
- Demonstrated experience working with senior-level leadership in bringing about positive, meaningful, and sustainable organizational change and producing measurable results
- Experience designing and developing programs and doing this in a leadership capacity
- Knowledge of web and mobile accessibility, as well as experience with accessibility testing tools and technologies
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and mediation skills, including the strong ability to address sensitive topics and contentious issues with confidentiality, tact, and discretion
- Experience in post-secondary advising setting is considered an asset
