DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages and develops a dynamic communications team.
- Builds relationships with key stakeholders and government officials at the federal, provincial and municipal levels.
- Develops strategic plans and proposals in a broad range of internal and external communications areas.
- Leads the execution of integrated communications program - collaborating with team members from across the organization and external stakeholders, when required - targeting customers, stakeholders, industry and internal audiences.
- Manages critical issues by participating in media relations, issues, emergency preparedness and crisis management activities, acts as a spokesperson when required.
- Evaluates and reports the success of communications programs and initiatives.
- Provides communications guidance and support to internal departments, such as Customer Experience.
- Develops executive-ready materials, presentations and reports.
- Proactively identifies reputational opportunities and risks.
- Manages budgeting, vendors and resourcing.
- Acts as a key communications contact in emergency situations, including evenings and weekends.
- Develops a solid understanding of our business and the industry to add value in strategic business planning.
- Stays up-to-date on industry news, trends and digital communications platforms.
- Partner on marketing initiatives in support of long-term strategies through leadership of the cross-functional teams.
- Manage and maintain the company's brand guidelines and ensure they are followed by internal teams and external partners
- Other duties as required may be considered part of these responsibilities.

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience managing direct reports and budgets.
- A strong understanding of the Canadian government and legislative process at federal, provincial and municipal levels, including established relationships with elected officials.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and stakeholder relations.
- Strong command of key tactical elements of communications consulting including content marketing, public affairs, executive support, issues management, internal communications, media relations, influencer relations, stakeholder relations, social media, paid support and measurement.
- Strong writing ability to contribute to material development such as policy briefs, speeches, backgrounders, annual reports, board communications.
- As we continue building our organizational culture, experience in change management would be considered an asset.
- Ability to prioritize work in order to stay organized and focused on highest impact, most time-sensitive items.
- Resilience in adapting to evolving situations, plans and strategies.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
