Overview

The Infection Control Associate works with the Hub and Spoke Community Health IPAC team in order to facilitate the development and sustainability of IPAC principles and practices amongst the East Toronto Health Partners (ETHP). To prevent the transmission of Infectious Diseases by collaborating with patients, families and staff to develop implement and sustain evidence-based Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices and interventions solutions.

The position uses continuous quality improvement methodology to facilitate solutions to prevent or control the spread of infectious diseases in accordance with Fixing Long Term Care Homes Act (2021), and current peer reviewed scientific evidence. The success of the Community Health MGH IPAC team is dependent on the ability of the ICP Associate to develop and nurture professional partnerships with ETHP Long Term Care, Retirement Home, shelter and congregate living settings community partners and facilitate quality improvement.

Education
- Completion of the CHICA-Canada Infection Control course or other courses related to Infection Prevention and Control required.

- Flexible, organized and self-directed within scope of responsibility; demonstrated initiative and

independent judgment.
- Exemplary communication skills, both written and oral.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships with the ability to persuade, motivate and influence.
- Sound facilitation and negotiation skills with the proven ability to handle difficult situations with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
- Sound judgment and initiative for priority setting; demonstrated ability to manage conflicting

priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to be an Ambassador of best practice initiatives as it relates to all aspects of Infection Prevention and Control.
- Evidence of sound knowledge and skill with adult education techniques.
- Knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques.
- Sound computer skills required.
- Good work and attendance record required.
