**About the role**:
Compass Point Contracting is seeking an experienced **Equipment Operator**: to join our Self Perform team. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy construction equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, and compactors. The Equipment Operator ensures proper site preparation, grading, excavation, and material movement in alignment with project plans while upholding strict safety standards and maintaining equipment in top condition.

**What you'll do**:

- Operate excavators, loaders, graders, dozers, and compactors to complete excavation, grading, and material handling.
- Perform trenching, backfilling, and site preparation for utilities and foundations.
- Conduct pre
- and post-operation inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Follow survey stakes, laser levels, and GPS control systems for precision grading.
- Adhere to WorkSafeBC and company safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with site supervisors, crews, and logistics teams to align equipment operations with project schedules.
- Support site logistics, including loading/unloading and debris removal.
- Perform routine maintenance such as fluid checks, lubrication, and cleaning of equipment.

**What you bring**:

- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent; equipment operation certification preferred.
- **Experience**: 3-5 years operating heavy equipment in construction or earthworks.
- **Technical**: Proficiency with excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, and compactors; familiarity with GPS-controlled equipment and laser grading systems.
- **Licences/Certifications**: Valid Class 3 or Class 1 driver's licence preferred; WorkSafeBC certifications (or willingness to obtain).
- **Skills**: Mechanical aptitude; ability to read site plans, survey stakes, and grade elevations; strong teamwork and communication; physically fit to work outdoors in varying conditions.
