Diagnostic Outpatient Scheduler

The Diagnostic Outpatient Scheduler ensures accurate order entry for scheduling of Diagnostic Outpatient appointments in the electronic patient record and the Ontario Breast Screening Program. The Diagnostic Outpatient Scheduler is responsible to ensure that the area schedules are current and up to date and ensure booking spots are utilized appropriately to minimize wait time and maximize current level of service. The Diagnostic Outpatient Scheduler provides support to Manager, Diagnostic Imaging through weekly and monthly reports.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Accurate order entry, scheduling, and re-scheduling of patient including, patient testing, patient instruction including preparations for diagnostic tests in accordance with the hospital policies and procedures.
- Review all worklists and electronic orders, and schedule as appropriate.
- Work both in the Electronic Patient record and the Ontario Breast Screening Program scheduling
programs.
- Ensure exemplary Customer Service Standards are met.
- Provide polite, courteous, respectful and helpful responses and communication for patient, patient care providers and areas within the hospital we service.
- Communicate with the patient care providers, patients and their families to clarify orders being sent to scheduling for a Diagnostic appointments.
- Work with the PACs System as required.
- Educate and train new employees as needed.
- Participate as a team member to support the shared expectations of the Diagnostic Outpatient's Team and adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization.
- Recommend process improvements initiative and ensure that service area issues are communicated to the Manager of Cardiac Services and Diagnostic Imaging in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager of Manager of Cardiac Services and Diagnostic Imaging or the Director and/or Vice President of Clinical Supports.

**Qualifications Required**
- OSSD - Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one (1) year of hospital related experience.
- Strong interpersonal communications skills and customer service experience.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Demonstrated initiative and self-direction with the ability to work with mínimal supervision and contribute to team.
- Ability to organize time, set priorities and multitask in order to meet various competing priorities required in the fast paced environment of diagnostic outpatient scheduling.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoi8nt, Outlook) and the internet.
- Demonstrated commitment to own professional development and continuing education.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis and be available to work all shifts.
- Ability to establish positive interpersonal relationships within and outside the service area.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Understands and adheres to confidentiality
**Other pertinent conditions**:
- Salary ($22.38 per hour to $26.18 per hour)
