Science and Technology Coordinator

As a coordinator, you will introduce students to the world of science through the concrete exploration of phenomena in their environment using various technological tools. You will set up activities and workshops allowing youth to develop a scientific approach in a collaborative way.
Throughout the year, you will support them as they develop a research protocol, create and build a scientific project as well as a research report, which will be presented during the year-end-of-year festival.
CONDITIONS
- October to June, with the possibility of contract renewal
- Part-time (14-24 hours weekly)
- Possibility of coordinating several projects
- Region: North Bay & Sturgeon Falls. (Paid KM from Greater Sudbury to North Bay for on-site work in school)
- Flexible schedule (Hybrid work)
- Paid training and support throughout the year.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage students in the world of science.
- Develop activities and experiences that foster students’ interest in science.
- Encourage students to acquire skills related to science and technology.
- Raise students’ awareness on environmental issues.
- Support students in their reflection, creation, and design, while developing expertise in the use of scientific methodologies appropriate to the chosen problem.
- Coordinate and support students through activities and workshops prepared in accordance with the themes of the project.
- Collaborate with the teacher for the integration of the project.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide expertise to students, by suggesting inclusive, stimulating and varied activities
- Take initiative and be creative as to contribute to the realization and success of the project.
- Respect deadlines.
- Supervise youth during Youth Fusion activities
- Work in close collaboration with the teaching staff, school administration and the Youth Fusion team to maximize the impact and visibility of the project in the school.
- Have a professional attitude and maintain a good working relationship with the Youth Fusion and the school team.
- Regularly follow up with the immediate supervisor.
- Help organize and participate in year-end events to celebrate students’ success.
- Foster an ambiance conducive to scientific discovery.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
Experience
- Experience in creating and planning scientific activities (an asset).
- Work experience and skills with elementary students (an asset).
- Knowledge and interest in scientific experiments.
- Ability to popularize science.
Will be considered as assets:
- Current (or completed) college or university studies related to science and technology (an asset).
- Volunteering or other experience with youth (day or summer camp, homework assistance, etc.)
- Ability to organize and facilitate workshops
- Desire to be a role model for youth and act as an agent of social change.
- Be motivated to work with youth.
- Be passionate about teaching science to youth.

- French spoken and written (mandatory)
