**Position Summary**

The Dialysis Unit is currently seeking a Permanent Part-Time Dialysis Assistant to join their healthcare team.

Training Commitment:
The successful applicant will make the following commitment:

- Register for the Dialysis Attendant/Assistant certificate within six months of hire or transfer into the position and completion of the Dialysis Attendant/Assistant certificate within one year of hire or transfer date into position. This certificate can be completed online and will be at the employee's expense.

Employee must be prepared for the following:

- 4 Weeks Full Time Orientation at RMH

Effective Date: October 14, 2024

Reporting to the Manager/ Team Leader, the Dialysis Assistant is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the department including but not limited to cleaning of patient environment post dialysis treatment as per unit procedure and according to infection control protocols, including dialysis machines, patient chairs and stretchers, and other equipment used during the dialysis treatment. Also responsible for assisting the clinical team in patient support and supply procurement/material management.

**Department/Unit/Program Description**

The Ross Memorial Hospital officially opened its Satellite Dialysis Unit, as part of the Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge Regional Dialysis Service. Our Regional Program ensures patients have 24/7 access to Nephrology on call, Social Work, Dietitian, Pharmacy reviews, Kidney Care Clinic, home dialysis (peritoneal or hemo) and preparation for transplant.

**Essential Qualifications**
- Grade 12 education
- Current Dialysis attendant/assistant certificate from a recognized college or equivalent
- Basic Computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients, physicians, volunteers and the public
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills are important for interaction with patients and staff
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills are required to multi-task and prioritize workload
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional manner under stressful conditions
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions and use good judgment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
- Must be able to fulfill physical requirement of the job, as per current physical demands analysis

**Hours of Work**

Currently eight hour day shifts, Monday to Sunday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
