Program Coordinator, Youth and Family Substance Use

**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority ( Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager, Youth and Family Substance Use Services, the Program Coordinator is responsible for program planning, implementing, directing and monitoring the quality of performance of the multidisciplinary team, and evaluating the program in order to ensure delivery of a high quality service. Develops and administers the Youth and Family Substance Use Program for a specific geographic area, including planning, organizing, coordinating and leading the program on a daily basis.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in a related health or human services discipline and a minimum of five (5) years' experience in youth and family service provision.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- A strong foundation of knowledge and experience in the Substance Use field.
- Experience in clinical consultation and supervision is required as is significant administrative management experience in a multi-union, multi-site organization.
- Thorough knowledge of a multidisciplinary team approach and the coordination of services in a complex environment and system of care.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and delegate.
- Extensive knowledge and experience related to clinical supervision and consultation as it relates to quality assurance processes, professional development and competency issues.
- Background knowledge and experience related to the field of addictions and clinical practice including familiarity with trauma informed practice, motivational enhancement and client-directed, outcome informed methodologies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to promote team building while understanding that decisive action is required.
- Ability to find creative solutions to problems and to develop alternative strategies to support quality improvement initiatives.
- Positive problem solving skills in a dynamic work environment.
- Strong planning, critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to lead in the areas of program and community development.
